“Labor would have never been made without the talent and passion of Halyna Hutchins, her outstanding attention to detail and her care. We will miss you so much and your legacy lives through the beautiful images you crafted through so much joy, hard work, and sacrifice. We love you.”

-Cast and Crew of “Labor”

Cinema Femme is greatly saddened by the death of Ukranian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. On October 21, 2021 we tragically lost this incredible talent, who worked on more than 30 films, short films and TV miniseries, including the films “Archenemy”, “Darlin'”, and “Blindfire”. Our heart goes out to her family and loved ones. We honor her during this festival by screening one of her films, “Labor”. We will be following the screening in speaking with the director of the film, Cinema Femme past featured Cecilia Albertini, and past featured Patricia Vidal Delgado (“La Leyenda Negra”) who was Camera Assistant on “Labor”. We will be speaking with Cecilia and Patricia about their time working with Halyna. We also are honoring her by naming an award after her, the Halyna Hutchins Producer Award, given to one of the producers of our selected films for their exemplary management of a set and their support to the people who were involved in their film. This award will be given on the final day of the festival, May 1, 2022.

Our media partner for this event is Camera Ambassador, founded in 2014 by Erica Duffy, Camera Ambassador is one of only three equipment rental houses nationwide owned and operated by a woman. Her vision was to create a vibrant community of artists by providing high-quality film equipment and top-notch service paired with genuine support of their productions.
