Cinema Femme is greatly saddened by the death of Ukranian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. On October 21, 2021 we tragically lost this incredible talent, who worked on more than 30 films, short films and TV miniseries, including the films “Archenemy”, “Darlin'”, and “Blindfire”. Our heart goes out to her family and loved ones. We honor her during this festival by screening one of her films, “Labor”. We will be following the screening in speaking with the director of the film, Cinema Femme past featured Cecilia Albertini, and past featured Patricia Vidal Delgado (“La Leyenda Negra”) who was Camera Assistant on “Labor”. We will be speaking with Cecilia and Patricia about their time working with Halyna. We also are honoring her by naming an award after her, the Halyna Hutchins Producer Award, given to one of the producers of our selected films for their exemplary management of a set and their support to the people who were involved in their film. This award will be given on the final day of the festival, May 1, 2022.

Q&A with filmmakers
Cecilia Albertini is a director and writer originally from Milan, Italy, and based in Los Angeles. Cecilia’s work, which spans from heartfelt dramas and dark comedies to socially-relevant documentaries, often features strong-willed women at the edge of society fighting against higher forces and standing up for their place in the world.
Patricia Vidal Delgado is a Sundance Institute FilmTwo Fellow and is represented by the talent agency Luber Roklin. ‘La Leyenda Negra’, her feature film debut, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in the NEXT category and is currently streaming on HBO MAX. The film was a Top 20 Finalist for the Roy W. Dean Grant and was awarded the Frameline Completion Fund in February 2020. The 2021 Film Independent Spirit Awards nominated the film for the John Cassavetes Award and the GLAAD Media Awards also nominated the film for Outstanding TV Movie. Patricia is the writer and director of short films ‘Bué Sabi’, ‘Isa’, ‘Ico’, ’88’, ‘The Hood’ and ‘Caroline’. Her work has screened at both national and international film festivals including the Raindance Film Festival, TIFF Next Wave, Philadelphia Film Festival, Curtas Vila do Conde and the IndieLisboa International Film Festival. To date, Delgado’s films have garnered a total of 21 wins and 63 nominations.
